Dr. Nickie L. Templeton

I am a small-town girl that has always managed to live life to the fullest through my relationships with community and with my words…

My name is Dr. Nickie L. Templeton, and I am from Clinton, SC, and lived in Clinton for most of my life. I earned a softball and academic scholarship at Presbyterian College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. Two years after graduating from Presbyterian College I received a Master of Arts degree in Technology Integration Specialization K-12 from Nova Southeastern University. In the summer of 2018, I finished my doctoral degree, Ed.D, in Educational Administration K-12 from Trident University International. With over 17 years in education, I’ve had the pleasure of serving a couple of schools in many different capacities, special education teacher, instructional coach, athletic coach, athletic director, and administrator.

Writing has been the greatest form of therapy for me over the years, and it has been a privilege to write for so many people helping each person capture so many emotions for various events. When I was fifteen years old, I wrote my first poem for an event. It was for a young man tragically killed in a car accident. The biggest reward for me was to witness the peace the family held as they read the words from the page. From that day forward I’ve written hundreds of poems that reveal stories of loved ones for joyous and tumultuous occasions. It is a blessing to help others memorialize and honor loved ones by telling a story with The Write Words.

I was also selected as the SC Softball Coach of the Year and the NFCA National Softball Coach of the Year. During my collegiate coaching career, I have coached volleyball and softball at SWU and Presbyterian College and softball at Anderson College. I have taught at SWU, PC, North Greenville University, and most currently USC Upstate. I now direct an afterschool program called FIGHT (Friends Into Getting Healthy Together) Club which averages 35-40 students and teachers working out and getting healthy together after school. I have been teaching a total of 32 years.
I currently live on Lyman Lake with my rescue Jack Russell Dunkin.

Nickie’s special talents and gift as a writer was brought to my attention when she presented me with a poem for my birthday and then after having the opportunity to hear her read her poems at funerals and special events. For 10 years I have expressed the need for her to share these gifts with others to provide a service by which people can honor the lives and memories of their loved ones. Nickie’s “Write Words” can provide an avenue where individuals can share and preserve the legacy of those they respect and love the most in their lives. The Write Words is a unique gift that is memorable for all occasions and events.
